Ownership and individual rights notices

FWS reserves its rights in its original website content and presentation. Publications, contributions, images and other materials may belong to their respective authors or other rights holders. Consult the rights notice or licence accompanying each item; the website notice does not transfer ownership of third-party material to FWS.

Reading and reuse

Public availability does not itself grant a licence to reproduce, republish, translate, adapt, redistribute or commercially exploit protected material. Unless an item’s licence permits the intended use, obtain permission from the appropriate rights holder where applicable law requires it. Exceptions and limitations provided by applicable law remain unaffected.

Preserve authorship, source information and rights notices. Do not present altered material as an official FWS publication or imply endorsement without authorization.

Restricted areas and files

Use private accounts and archived files only within your assigned permissions. Do not share credentials, bypass access controls, interfere with the service, or disclose private manuscripts, review records or files without authorization. Access to a file does not grant republication rights.

Permission requests and rights concerns

Identify the work, its author, its Registry page or reference, the material concerned and the intended use. Submit requests to the rights holder or through an official FWS contact channel. Acknowledgement or silence does not constitute permission.

Policy status

This draft has not yet been reconciled with the main FWS website’s legal policy. A verified permissions contact and any additional terms, privacy provisions and jurisdiction-specific clauses remain to be finalized before publication.
